Steep light angles from non-telecentric lenses can result in photosite crosstalk, sensor-edge aberrations, and poor absorption through optical low-pass or spectral filter packages. The wider opening of the LPL mount permits larger rear lens elements, resulting in a telecentric optical design that ensures consistent, pristine image quality from the center of the frame all the way to the extreme corners.

ARRI has openly shared LPL specifications to establish a unified standard across the motion picture industry. Not only are LPL mounts available for ARRI's core lineup—including the ALEXA 35, ALEXA Mini LF, ALEXA LF, AMIRA, and ALEXA 65—but third-party options also bring the legendary signature look to RED, Sony Venice, and Phantom cameras. Additionally, mirrorless adapters allow LPL lenses to be adapted directly to standard E-mount, L-mount, RF-mount, and Z-mount systems.
