The ARRI Zoom Main Unit ZMU-4 updates traditional zoom controller ergonomics with cutting-edge digital networking. Built as a core component of ARRI's fifth-generation Electronic Control System (ECS), the ZMU-4 functions as a premium single-axis lens controller that adapts dynamically to modern cinema builds. Transitioning seamlessly from a classic tripod pan-bar wired controller to a robust wireless transmitter, it allows operators to transition between dolly, crane, or handheld setups without changing tools or losing muscle memory.

Swappable Radio Modules & Integrated Receiver Capabilities

Eliminating bulky external receiver boxes, the ZMU-4 features a recessed slot that accepts ARRI’s premium, toolless interchangeable radio modules—including the RF-EMIP, the high-performance RF-2400, and the RF-900. When equipped with a wireless module, the ZMU-4 can function directly on-camera as a wireless receiver. This removes the need for an external Radio Interface Adapter (RIA-1), keeping the camera rig lightweight, uncluttered, and perfectly balanced.

Tailored Feel with Customizable Zoom Profiles

Camera operators can configure the ZMU-4 to match their precise shooting preferences. The exceptionally smooth, force-sensitive zoom joystick offers ultra-fine speed adjustments and supports four distinct zoom curves. Dedicated zoom speed buttons fall naturally under the index finger, while three programmable user buttons let operators assign instant shortcuts like peaking, false color, or camera run/stop commands. Limits and markers can be set with absolute precision, with focal length parameters and battery data projected onto the transflective 0.96" TFT-LCD screen.

Uncompromising Power and Modular Off-Camera Configurations

To sustain demanding multi-day shoots, the ZMU-4 is optimized for ARRI LBP-3500 batteries, supplying a massive 15-hour runtime alongside highly precise telemetry. The unit’s dual LBUS and CAM ports offer quick physical integration with cforce lens motors and camera control lines. Using the RA-8 rosette adapter, the ZMU-4 can be joined physically with the Operator Control Unit OCU-1, creating a modular, cable-free, dual-channel control platform for zoom and iris that is perfect for remote monitor setups, DIT stations, or rainy exterior sets.
