Overview

The Blackmagic Design 2110 IP Converter 8x12G SFP is a 1RU professional converter designed to integrate 12G-SDI broadcast equipment with SMPTE ST 2110 IP infrastructure. It incorporates eight independent bidirectional converters, allowing simultaneous conversion between 12G-SDI and SMPTE 2110 IP video.

Each channel has a dedicated 12G-SDI input and output. A separate 12G-SDI main program input and loop output allow a single program return signal to be distributed to all connected channels.

Performance

The converter provides nine SDI inputs and nine SDI outputs in total, comprising eight independent channels plus the main program input and loop output. SDI operation supports 270Mb, 1.5G, 3G, 6G and 12G rates with automatic detection of SD, HD, 2K DCI, Ultra HD and 4K DCI formats.

Eight 10Gb/s SFP sockets provide SMPTE 2110 IP video input and output and are designed for optical fiber Ethernet connectivity over longer distances. The unit also has a separate 1Gb/s RJ45 Ethernet port for configuration and firmware updates, plus USB-C 3.0.

Applications

The 2110 IP Converter 8x12G SFP is suited to broadcast studios, live production facilities and other professional systems that need to bridge multiple 12G-SDI devices with a SMPTE 2110 IP network over fiber.

Blackmagic IP10 enables 12G-SDI data rates to be transported over 10G ST 2110 IP. The converter also supports SMPTE 2110-20 video, 2110-21 traffic shaping, 2110-30 PCM audio, 2110-40 ancillary data, PTP timing and NMOS discovery and connection management.
