Overview
The Blackmagic Design 2110 IP Mini BiDirect 12G is a compact bidirectional converter designed to connect SDI broadcast cameras directly to SMPTE ST 2110 IP production systems. It handles the camera's SDI feed and the SDI program return through a single converter, reducing the amount of equipment required at the camera position.
Its 12G-SDI connectivity supports HD and Ultra HD formats up to 2160p60. A single 10G Ethernet interface provides SMPTE ST 2110 IP video connectivity and can also power the converter using PoE++. An external 12V DC universal power supply is included.
Performance
The converter provides one 12G-SDI input and one 12G-SDI output with support for 1.5G, 3G, 6G and 12G SDI rates. The 10G Ethernet interface provides the bidirectional connection between the SDI camera and the SMPTE 2110 IP network.
Embedded SDI audio supports 16 channels. The converter also integrates a 5-pin XLR talkback headset interface, with talkback carried on channels 15 and 16 of the SDI and SMPTE 2110 IP video. Dedicated volume up, volume down and push-to-talk controls are provided.
Applications
The compact in-line design makes the 2110 IP Mini BiDirect 12G particularly suitable for converting existing SDI broadcast cameras for use in SMPTE 2110 studios and live-production environments. It allows the camera feed, program return and talkback communications to be handled at the camera position without requiring a large rack-mounted converter.
Built-in LED indicators show IP input lock, SDI input lock and live tally status. The converter can operate from its included DC power supply or directly from a compatible PoE++ 10G Ethernet connection.
