Overview
The Blackmagic Design 2110 IP Mini BiDirect 12G SFP is a compact bidirectional converter designed to connect professional SDI broadcast cameras to SMPTE ST 2110 IP systems over long-distance optical fiber. It handles both the SDI camera feed and SDI program return within a single converter.
Unlike the RJ45 version, this model uses an SFP socket. It accepts compatible 10G Ethernet optical fiber modules as well as 3G-SDI, 6G-SDI and 12G-SDI optical fiber modules.
Performance
The converter provides one 12G-SDI input and one 12G-SDI output with automatic multi-rate operation. It supports SDI rates of 270Mb, 1.5G, 3G, 6G and 12G, with automatic detection of SD, HD, 2K, Ultra HD and 4K formats. Built-in SDI reclocking is also provided.
Its SFP interface supports 10Gb/s connectivity for SMPTE ST 2110 IP video input and output, configuration and firmware updates. A USB-C 3.0 connection provides an additional interface for configuration and firmware updates.
Applications
The Mini BiDirect 12G SFP is particularly suited to broadcast studios, venues and remote production environments where cameras need to connect to SMPTE 2110 infrastructure across longer fiber distances.
It also integrates production communications through a 5-pin XLR talkback headset connection. Talkback operates on channels 15 and 16 of the SDI and ST 2110 IP video, with dedicated volume up, volume down and push-to-talk controls. A tally LED provides live tally indication.
