Overview

The Blackmagic Design Micro Converter BiDirectional SDI/HDMI 12G combines SDI-to-HDMI and HDMI-to-SDI conversion in a single compact unit. Importantly, both conversion directions can operate simultaneously and can use different SD, HD or Ultra HD video standards, effectively providing two independent converters in one device.

Connectivity includes one 12G-SDI input, one 12G-SDI output, one HDMI 2.0 input and one HDMI 2.0 output. It supports 270Mb, 1.5G, 3G, 6G and 12G-SDI rates, with automatic detection of SD, HD, 2K, Ultra HD and 4K formats.

Performance

The converter handles formats from NTSC and PAL through 720p, 1080p, 1080PsF, 1080i and 2K DCI, extending to Ultra HD 2160p60 and 4K DCI 60p. SDI connections support 4:2:2 YUV processing and a 33-point LUT can be loaded through the software utility.

For 3G-SDI, Level A and Level B are automatically detected at the SDI input and are user-selectable at the SDI output. The unit also provides SDI reclocking and has a maximum power consumption of 5 W.

Applications

Micro Converter BiDirectional SDI/HDMI 12G is particularly useful for live production, broadcast, studio and portable production systems where HDMI and SDI equipment need to operate together.

Bidirectional conversion also supports Blackmagic Camera Control and tally, making the converter especially useful when integrating compatible Blackmagic cameras into SDI-based production workflows.
