Overview

The Blackmagic Design Micro Converter BiDirectional SDI/HDMI 3G is a miniature broadcast-quality converter capable of converting SDI to HDMI and HDMI to SDI simultaneously. The two conversion paths can operate at the same time, making the unit particularly useful when HDMI and professional SDI equipment need to be integrated within the same production system.

Connectivity consists of one SD/HD/3G-SDI input, an SDI output, one full-size HDMI Type-A input and one HDMI Type-A output. USB Type-C is provided for power, configuration and software updates.

Performance

The converter supports NTSC and PAL SD formats plus professional HD standards including 720p, 1080i, 1080PsF and 1080p up to 60 fps. Its SDI side additionally supports DCI 2K formats up to 60p. SDI connectivity automatically switches between SD, HD and 3G-SDI, with Level A or Level B selectable through the setup utility.

Video uses 4:2:2 YUV processing, while built-in SDI reclocking helps maintain signal integrity. Power consumption is specified at just 2.5 W.

Micro Converter BiDirectional SDI/HDMI 3G is ideal for live production, broadcast, studio and portable systems requiring integration between HDMI and SDI equipment.

Bidirectional signal conversion also supports Blackmagic Camera Control and tally. This allows compatible Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Cameras to integrate with professional SDI live-production switchers while maintaining camera-control functionality.
