Product Overview +
Overview
The Blackmagic Design Mini Converter Analog to SDI converts analog component, S-Video and NTSC/PAL composite video sources to professional SD/HD-SDI. It is designed for integrating analog equipment such as Betacam SP decks, VHS equipment, set-top boxes and HDV cameras into SDI-based production infrastructure.
The converter provides two SDI video outputs and accepts two channels of balanced analog audio or two channels of balanced AES/EBU digital audio for embedding into the SDI output.
Performance
The Mini Converter Analog to SDI supports 525i59.94 NTSC and 625i50 PAL standard definition sources, plus 720p50, 720p59.94, 720p60, 1080i50, 1080i59.94 and 1080i60 HD formats. The SDI output automatically follows the format of the analog input.
SDI output complies with SMPTE 259M, SMPTE 292M and SMPTE 296M, as well as ITU-R BT.656 and BT.601. Video uses 4:2:2 YUV processing, while embedded SDI audio operates at 48 kHz and 24-bit. Built-in SDI reclocking is also provided.
Applications
The Mini Converter Analog to SDI is particularly useful for bringing legacy analog video equipment into modern SDI production environments. Component, S-Video and composite sources can be converted for connection to SDI routers, switchers, recorders, monitors and other broadcast equipment.
Professional analog and AES/EBU audio inputs also make it suitable for workflows where external audio needs to be embedded along with the converted video signal.
