Overview

The Blackmagic Design Mini Converter Audio to SDI is a professional audio embedder designed to add external audio to SD and HD SDI video. It accepts four channels of balanced analog audio or eight channels of balanced AES/EBU audio and embeds them into the SDI signal.

The converter provides a primary SD/HD/3G-SDI input and an alternate SDI input for automatic failover if the main signal is lost. The processed signal is provided through one embedded SDI output.

Performance

The Mini Converter Audio to SDI supports SD, HD and Level B 3G-SDI operation. Supported formats include NTSC and PAL, 720p up to 60 fps, 1080i, 1080PsF and 1080p up to 60 fps, along with 2K DCI progressive and PsF formats.

It supports 4:2:2 and 4:4:4 SDI video sampling with YUV and RGB color spaces. Embedded SDI audio operates at a 48 kHz, 24-bit sample rate, while built-in SDI reclocking helps maintain signal integrity.

Applications

The Mini Converter Audio to SDI is designed for broadcast, live production, studio and professional AV applications where external professional audio needs to be embedded into an existing SDI video signal.

It is particularly useful for integrating audio mixers, analog decks and other professional audio sources with SDI routers, recorders, switchers and video converters.
