Product Overview +
Overview
The Blackmagic Design Mini Converter Audio to SDI 4K is a professional audio embedder designed to add external audio to an SDI video signal. It can embed four channels of professional balanced analog audio or eight channels of balanced AES/EBU digital audio, making it suitable for integrating mixers, analog decks and other professional audio equipment into SDI workflows.
The converter provides one SD, HD or 6G-SDI input plus an alternate SDI input for redundancy. If the primary SDI input is lost, the unit automatically switches to the alternate input. The processed video is delivered through a dedicated embedded SDI output.
Performance
Mini Converter Audio to SDI 4K automatically handles SD, HD, 3G and 6G-SDI signals. It supports NTSC and PAL, 720p and 1080 formats, DCI 2K through 60p, Ultra HD through 2160p30 and 4K DCI through 30p.
SDI video supports 4:2:2 and 4:4:4 sampling with YUV and RGB color spaces. Embedded SDI audio operates at 48 kHz and 24-bit. Built-in SDI reclocking helps maintain signal integrity throughout professional production and distribution systems.
Applications
The Mini Converter Audio to SDI 4K is suited to broadcast facilities, studios, live production, post-production and professional AV systems that require external audio sources to be embedded into an existing SDI video feed.
Its analog and AES/EBU connectivity allows professional mixers, audio processors and playback equipment to be incorporated into SDI-based infrastructure, while redundant SDI input switching provides additional reliability for critical workflows.
