Overview

The Blackmagic Design Mini Converter Optical Fiber 12G provides simultaneous SDI to optical fiber and optical fiber to SDI conversion. Both directions can operate at the same time and can even carry different video standards, making the converter suitable for bidirectional fiber links.

The unit features multi-rate 12G-SDI connectivity and an SFP socket that accepts compatible 3G, 6G or 12G-SDI optical fiber modules. The optical SFP module is sold separately.

Performance

Mini Converter Optical Fiber 12G automatically detects SD, HD, Level A or Level B 3G-SDI, 6G-SDI and 12G-SDI signals. It supports SD and HD formats, DCI 2K, Ultra HD through 2160p60 and 4K DCI through 25p.

It supports 4:2:2 and 4:4:4 sampling, YUV and RGB color spaces, 48 kHz 24-bit SDI audio, 16-channel embedded optical fiber audio, SDI reclocking and ASI.

Applications

The Mini Converter Optical Fiber 12G is designed for broadcast facilities, live production, OB systems, venues and other professional installations where SDI video must be transported over long-distance optical fiber.

Its simultaneous bidirectional operation is particularly useful when video signals need to travel in both directions over a fiber infrastructure, while support for replaceable SFP optical modules provides flexibility when configuring the fiber interface.
