Overview

The Blackmagic Design Mini Converter SDI to Audio is a professional SDI audio de-embedder designed for SD and HD workflows up to 1080p60. It extracts embedded audio from an SDI source for connection to mixers, analog decks, audio monitors and other professional audio equipment.

The converter provides four channels of professional balanced analog audio or eight channels of balanced AES/EBU digital audio. It features a primary SD/HD/3G-SDI input, an alternate SDI input for redundancy and an SDI loop output.

Performance

The Mini Converter SDI to Audio automatically detects SD, HD and Level B 3G-SDI signals. It supports NTSC and PAL, 720p up to 60 fps, 1080i, 1080PsF and 1080p up to 60 fps, along with selected 2K DCI progressive and PsF standards.

SDI video supports 4:2:2 and 4:4:4 sampling with YUV and RGB color spaces. Embedded SDI audio uses a television-standard 48 kHz, 24-bit sample rate, while built-in reclocking helps maintain SDI signal integrity.

Applications

The Mini Converter SDI to Audio is suited to broadcast, live production, studio and professional AV applications where embedded audio needs to be extracted from an SDI video signal.

Its four-channel balanced analog and eight-channel AES/EBU outputs allow SDI sources to interface directly with professional mixers, audio monitors, recorders and other audio equipment. The redundant SDI input automatically switches over if the primary SDI signal is lost.
