Overview

Blackmagic Design SmartView 4K G3 is a professional 15.6-inch Ultra HD broadcast monitor designed for both traditional SDI and modern SMPTE ST 2110 IP production environments. Its native 3840 × 2160 LCD provides full-resolution Ultra HD monitoring, while support for SD, HD, 2K, Ultra HD and 4K DCI makes it suitable for a wide range of broadcast and live-production workflows.

The monitor provides two 12G-SDI inputs and a reclocked SDI loop output, alongside a 10GbE RJ45 interface for SMPTE ST 2110 IP video. An optical SFP cage supports 2110 IP video and optical SDI connectivity.

Performance

SmartView 4K G3 supports SDI rates from 270Mb through 12G-SDI, with automatic detection of SD, HD, 3G, 6G and 12G-SDI. Video format support extends through Ultra HD 2160p60 and DCI 4K 60p, with 4:2:2 and 4:4:4 video sampling.

Its 15.6-inch TFT active-matrix LCD has a native 3840 × 2160 resolution, 1000:1 contrast ratio, 25 ms response time and 16.7-million-color display capability. Built-in monitoring functions include focus peaking, H/V delay, blue-only mode, framing guides and 3D LUT support.

Applications

SmartView 4K G3 is designed for broadcast control rooms, studios, live production, OB systems and SMPTE 2110 facilities that need a single monitor capable of working across SDI and IP infrastructure.

Its IP implementation supports SMPTE ST 2110-20 uncompressed video, ST 2110-21 traffic shaping, ST 2110-30 PCM audio and ST 2110-40 ancillary data. It also supports PTP and NMOS IS-04 discovery and registration and IS-05 connection management. Blackmagic IP10 is used when converting 12G-SDI rates for transport over the 10G SMPTE 2110 interface.
