Overview
Blackmagic Design Teranex Express is a professional real-time broadcast standards converter providing 1,089 conversions between SD, HD and Ultra HD formats. It combines 10-bit image processing with Teranex conversion algorithms for up conversion, down conversion, cross conversion and standards conversion through Ultra HD 2160p60.
The unit provides professional SDI connectivity supporting 270 Mb/s SD-SDI, 1.5G-SDI, 3G-SDI, 6G-SDI and 12G-SDI. Dual-link and Quad HD Split configurations are also supported for applicable Ultra HD workflows.
Performance
Teranex Express incorporates real-time video processing including noise reduction, cadence detection with insertion and removal, scene-cut detection, color correction and proc amp control. Hardware-based real-time colorspace conversion and variable or fixed aspect-ratio conversion are also provided.
Supported standards extend from 525i59.94 NTSC and 625i50 PAL through 720p, 1080p, 1080PsF, 1080i and 2K DCI to Ultra HD formats including 2160p50, 2160p59.94 and 2160p60. Video processing uses 10-bit 4:2:2 SDI with Rec. 601 and Rec. 709 color spaces.
Applications
Teranex Express is designed for broadcast facilities, studios, master control, signal conversion, standards normalization and other professional workflows where sources and destinations operate at different resolutions, frame rates or broadcast standards.
It also supports 16-channel embedded SDI audio, VITC/ATC timecode, optional optical fiber I/O and Black Burst or Tri-level reference synchronization, allowing integration into professional broadcast infrastructures.
