Overview

The Blackmagic Design Teranex Mini Analog to SDI 12G converts analog video sources to professional SDI. It accepts component, composite or Y/C video, making it suitable for integrating legacy equipment such as Betacam SP decks, VHS systems, set-top boxes, gaming consoles and HDV cameras into modern SDI production environments.

The converter provides two 12G-SDI outputs and can generate SD, HD and Ultra HD SDI depending on the incoming analog source and selected configuration.

Performance

Supported output formats include SD 525i59.94 and 625i50, HD formats including 720p and 1080i/p, and Ultra HD at 2160p25, 2160p29.97, 2160p50 and 2160p59.94. Multi-rate operation allows the SDI output to be configured for HD when using composite or S-Video and Ultra HD when working with component HD sources.

The unit provides built-in SDI reclocking and supports 4:2:2 and 4:4:4 SDI video sampling. Audio uses a television-standard 48 kHz, 24-bit sample rate.

Applications

Teranex Mini Analog to SDI 12G is particularly useful for broadcast, archival, post-production and professional AV environments that still rely on analog video equipment but need to integrate those sources into an SDI infrastructure.

Professional audio embedding is provided through two channels of balanced analog XLR audio or four channels of 110Ω balanced AES/EBU digital audio. The right XLR connector can alternatively be configured as a timecode input.
