Overview

The Blackmagic Design Teranex Mini Audio to SDI 12G is a professional audio embedder designed to add external audio to SDI video. It can embed audio from professional balanced analog, AES/EBU digital, unbalanced RCA or optical S/PDIF sources into SD, HD, Ultra HD or DCI 4K SDI signals.

It provides one auto-switching 12G-SDI input and one 12G-SDI output, making it suitable for adding audio from mixers, audio players, analog decks and other equipment into existing SDI video workflows.

Performance

The converter automatically switches between SD, HD, 2K and 4K video formats. Supported standards include SD, HD through 1080p60, 2K DCI, Ultra HD through 2160p60 and DCI 4K through 25p. Built-in SDI reclocking maintains signal integrity.

It supports 16 channels of embedded SDI audio. External audio options include two channels of professional balanced analog audio through XLR, two channels of unbalanced analog line-level audio through RCA, up to four channels of professional 110Ω balanced AES/EBU digital audio, and optical S/PDIF through TOSLINK.

Applications

The Teranex Mini Audio to SDI 12G is useful in broadcast studios, live production, post-production and professional AV environments where external audio needs to be embedded into an SDI video signal before routing, recording, transmission or monitoring.

The right XLR connector can alternatively be configured for timecode input. Configuration and software updates can be performed over USB or Ethernet, while an optional Teranex Mini Smart Panel adds an LCD, rotary knob and six settings buttons.
