Overview

The Blackmagic Design Teranex Mini HDMI to SDI 12G converts HDMI video to professional 12G-SDI. It supports SD, HD, 2K and Ultra HD workflows and includes an up converter for converting HD sources to Ultra HD. This makes it useful for integrating HDMI cameras, computers and other HDMI sources into professional SDI production systems.

The converter provides one HDMI 2.0 Type A input and two 12G-SDI outputs. The SDI outputs automatically match the incoming HDMI format and support SD through 12G-SDI operation.

Performance

Supported SDI output formats range from SD 525i59.94 and 625i50 through 720p, 1080i/p, 2K DCI and Ultra HD up to 2160p60. It also supports 4K DCI at 23.98p, 24p and 25p. SDI connections automatically switch between SD, 3G, 6G and 12G-SDI.

The SDI signal uses 4:2:2 sampling and YUV color space, with embedded audio sampled at the television-standard 48 kHz, 24-bit rate. Built-in SDI reclocking is also provided.

Applications

The Teranex Mini HDMI to SDI 12G is particularly useful for converting HDMI consumer and professional cameras for integration into SDI production environments. It can also provide professional SDI outputs for computers and other equipment equipped with HDMI outputs.

Professional audio embedding is built in. Two channels of balanced analog audio or four channels of 110Ω balanced AES/EBU digital audio can be connected through XLR, while the right XLR can alternatively be configured for timecode input.
