Product Overview +

Overview

The Blackmagic Design Teranex Mini Optical to HDMI 12G converts both conventional SDI and SMPTE optical fiber video to HDMI. It supports SD, HD, 2K and Ultra HD/4K workflows, allowing fiber-based broadcast signals to be connected directly to HDMI televisions, monitors and projectors.

The unit accepts an optional single-mode 1310 nm SFP optical module with LC connectivity. Depending on the module installed, it can operate with 3G-SDI, 6G-SDI or 12G-SDI optical fiber. The SFP module is sold separately.

Performance

The converter provides a 12G-SDI input as well as an optical fiber video input, both supporting automatic switching between SD, HD, 2K and 4K formats. It also provides a 12G-SDI optical fiber loop-through and an HDMI 2.0 Type A output supporting Ultra HD through 2160p60.

A built-in down converter enables Ultra HD sources to be displayed on compatible HD displays. Multi-rate operation automatically detects SD, HD and 12G-SDI signals, while built-in reclocking helps maintain signal integrity.

Applications

Teranex Mini Optical to HDMI 12G is particularly useful for broadcast facilities, venues, OB systems and other installations where video needs to travel over optical fiber across long distances before being displayed on an HDMI monitor or projector.

Professional audio de-embedding provides two channels of balanced analog audio or four channels of 110Ω balanced AES/EBU digital audio through XLR connectors. The right XLR can alternatively provide timecode output
