Overview

The Blackmagic Design Ultimatte 12 HD is an advanced real-time compositing processor designed for professional chroma keying, broadcast graphics and virtual set production. It combines Blackmagic's latest Ultimatte algorithms and color science with a high-performance 3G-SDI architecture for SD and HD production.

Performance

Ultimatte 12 HD provides advanced edge handling, color separation, color fidelity and spill suppression to produce realistic composites, including difficult subjects such as hair, shadows and transparent objects. Its sub-pixel processing is designed to maintain fine image detail when combining live foreground video with virtual environments and graphics.

The unit provides five SDI video inputs, four SDI video outputs and one reclocked Camera FG loop output. All video inputs include resynchronization, and supported SDI rates include 270Mb, 1.5G and 3G. It also includes 6GB of non-volatile internal storage for loading still images into the media pool.

Applications

Ultimatte 12 HD is designed for virtual studios, broadcast news, weather, sports, entertainment, live production and other professional green-screen applications. Built-in frame storage allows backgrounds and other elements to be stored internally, reducing the need for separate external video sources in fixed virtual-set workflows.
