Overview

The Blackmagic Design UltraStudio HD Mini is a compact professional capture and playback solution for SD and HD production. It combines modern 3G-SDI connectivity with analog YUV and composite video inputs, making it useful for both current broadcast equipment and legacy video sources. It connects to the host computer through Thunderbolt 3.

Performance

UltraStudio HD Mini provides one switchable SD/HD 3G-SDI input and two switchable 3G-SDI outputs. The dual SDI outputs support fill and key operation, while an HDMI 1.4b output provides convenient monitoring on HDMI displays. The SDI interface supports 270Mb, 1.5G and 3G data rates.

Analog connectivity allows component YUV and composite NTSC/PAL sources to be captured, while two 1/4-inch connections support balanced or HiFi analog audio. Up to 16 channels of embedded audio are supported over SDI.

Applications

UltraStudio HD Mini is suited to broadcast ingest, video editing, post-production, graphics playback, legacy media capture and professional monitoring. Built-in RS-422 deck control enables integration with professional broadcast decks, while the dual SDI outputs make it particularly useful for fill-and-key graphics workflows.
