Overview

The Blackmagic Design UltraStudio Mini Recorder 12G is a compact professional video capture solution designed for Thunderbolt computers. It provides both multi-rate 12G-SDI and HDMI 2.0 inputs, allowing professional cameras, switchers and other video sources to be captured directly into compatible broadcast, editing, streaming and AI image-processing software.

Performance

UltraStudio Mini Recorder 12G supports SD, HD, 2K, Ultra HD and 4K workflows. Its 12G-SDI connection supports video formats all the way up to Ultra HD 2160p60 and 4K DCI 60p, while automatically supporting lower 270Mb, 1.5G, 3G and 6G SDI rates.

The recorder provides broadcast-quality video processing with 4:2:2 and 4:4:4 SDI sampling. It supports up to 12-bit RGB 4:4:4 at 2160p30 and 10-bit YUV 4:2:2 across supported standards. HDR workflows are supported with static metadata packing plus HLG and PQ transfer characteristics.

UltraStudio Mini Recorder 12G is suited to professional video capture, broadcast ingest, live streaming, post-production and AI video-processing applications. Blackmagic lists support for applications including OBS, vMix and Wirecast, while its Desktop Video architecture provides integration with professional video workflows.
