Overview

The Blackmagic Design UpDownCross 100G is a professional 8-channel standards converter with native SMPTE ST 2110 connectivity over 100G Ethernet. It can simultaneously convert up to eight separate SD, HD and Ultra HD video channels to other supported video standards, providing high-density standards conversion for IP-based broadcast facilities.

The converter uses a professional 1RU rackmount design with quiet front-to-back cooling. Dual 100G QSFP28 connections provide redundant SMPTE 2110 network connectivity with ST 2022-7 support, while a separate 1G RJ45 connection is dedicated to NMOS control, configuration and firmware updates.

Performance

UpDownCross 100G supports eight Ultra HD or HD senders and receivers. Supported formats include SD 525i59.94 and 625i50, a comprehensive range of 720p and 1080i/p/PsF HD standards, and Ultra HD formats through 2160p60.

SMPTE compliance includes ST 2110-20 uncompressed video, ST 2110-21 traffic shaping, ST 2110-30 PCM audio, ST 2110-40 ancillary data and ST 2022-7 redundant stream delivery. Each ST 2110 IP video stream supports 16 channels of 48 kHz, 24-bit embedded audio.

Applications

The Blackmagic UpDownCross 100G is designed for broadcast studios, master control environments, live production facilities and other large SMPTE 2110 systems where several incoming video standards need to be normalized or converted simultaneously.

Its dual 100G architecture provides network redundancy for critical broadcast operation. A built-in 2.2-inch LCD allows video, audio, video standard and timecode monitoring, while the search dial lets operators move between available inputs directly from the front panel.
