The Evertz 3400FR is a 1RU rackmount passive optical frame engineered for dense, high-performance fiber optic distribution and signal splitting. Designed to streamline optical infrastructure in broadcast facilities, outside broadcast (OB) trucks, master control rooms, and venue link hubs, the 3400FR holds up to 10 hot-swappable splitter/combiner modules in a single unit of rack space.

Bit-Rate Agnostic & Powerless Operation

Because the 3400FR and its 3400 series modules are completely passive, they require no external power sources, generate zero heat, and exhibit no bit-rate limitations. Operating across the full single-mode wideband spectrum (1270nm to 1610nm), the frame transparently splits or combines optical feeds regardless of payload protocol—whether routing uncompressed 12G-SDI video, CWDM multi-wavelength streams, digital audio, or IP network data over 9µm single-mode fiber.

Flexible Split Configurations & Zero-Downtime Servicing

The 3400FR chassis can be configured with any mix of Evertz 3400 series passive modules:

• Equally Distributed Splitters: Available as quad 1x2, dual 1x4, or single 1x8 modules for uniform signal power distribution across output ports.
• Monitoring Splitters: Feature asymmetric optical coupling ratios (e.g., 95/5% or 90/10%) designed to tap off a low-level optical signal for test equipment without degrading the primary transmission link.

With front-access modularity, engineers can reconfigure optical paths or swap individual splitter cassettes on the fly without disturbing surrounding live fiber runs.
