Modular Optical Conversion and Transport

The Evertz 3405 Optical SFP Series provides broadcast-grade fiber conversion, signal distribution, and wavelength transformation within ultra-compact Small Form-factor Pluggable (SFP) modules. Designed to support live video and audio signal transport—including 3G-SDI, HD-SDI, SD-SDI, DVB-ASI, and MADI—the 3405 optical series allows broadcast engineers to build custom optical transmission links inside high-density SFP frame architectures.

Comprehensive Functional Variants

The 3405 optical series is categorized into three primary functional families:

Optical Transmitters (EO): Converts electrical coax feeds to optical outputs using standard 1310nm, short-haul 1310nm, or CWDM lasers (+4 dBm output power). Includes options with local electrical loop-outs.
Optical Receivers (OE): Converts optical signals back to electrical coax. Available in single or dual-channel configurations with standard (-21 dBm) or high-sensitivity (-28 dBm) photodetectors.
Optical Regenerators / Wavelength Shifters (OO): Re-amplifies, reclocks, and reshapes incoming optical signals while re-transmitting on a new wavelength (e.g., converting standard 1310nm to CWDM), complete with simultaneous electrical distribution outputs.

Streamlined Density and Reliability

By housing optical transmitters, receivers, and regenerators directly inside hot-swappable SFP module bays, the 3405 series eliminates standalone throw-down converters and reduces rack space requirements. With LC/UPC optical interfaces supporting both single-mode and multimode fiber, integrated 3G/HD reclocking for ultra-low jitter (<0.2 UI), and seamless operation in 3405FR, 3505FR, and 7708SFP carriers, the 3405 optical series is an essential foundation for modern broadcast facilities, OB trucks, and long-haul venue links.
