High-Density FEC Insertion and Packet Recovery

The Evertz 570FEC-HW-X19 is a high-capacity IP processing blade engineered for bulk Forward Error Correction (FEC) insertion and packet error correction across live broadcast contribution and distribution networks. Designed to maintain stream integrity over lossy IP links, the card protects compressed MPEG-2 transport streams and IP media flows against packet loss, jitter, and network degradation.

Three Flexible Operational Modes

The platform offers three distinct processing modes to suit specific IP edge and distribution architectures:

Bi-Directional Mode (32 Paths): Provides 32 bi-directional processing paths featuring simultaneous FEC insertion, FEC correction, RTP header handling, and multi-path packet merge across 64 IP inputs and 32 IP outputs.
FEC Insertion Mode (96 Paths): Encodes and inserts Pro-MPEG COP3 FEC and RTP headers for up to 96 outbound IP flows across 96 IP outputs.
FEC Correction Mode (96 Paths): Applies FEC error correction, RTP header removal, and multi-path packet merge for up to 96 processing paths using 192 IP inputs.

Patent-Pending Multi-Path Packet Merge

To ensure uninterrupted broadcast transmission, the 570FEC-HW-X19 incorporates multi-path, multi-flow packet merge technology compliant with SMPTE ST 2022-7 hitless protection. By ingesting identical packet streams from two separate, non-correlated SFP network routes, the card seamlessly reconstructs a single perfect stream—guaranteeing 100% Quality of Service (QoS) even during severe packet loss or primary link failure.

Seamless Frame Integration and Management

Occupying two slots in Evertz 570FR 3RU or S570FR 1RU frame enclosures, the module connects directly to core switches via four 10GbE SFP slots. Network operators can manage stream settings, IGMP v2/v3 multicast joins, and port mapping via an onboard HTTP web server or centralized SNMP orchestration tools including Evertz VistaLINK and Unified Control systems.
