Product Overview +
Complete Broadcast Timing Core for Hybrid and IP Facilities
The Evertz 5800MSC Master Sync Generator and PTP Root Leader Clock sets a benchmark for timing precision across legacy SDI, modern IP, and hybrid broadcast operations. Purpose-built to handle the rigorous demands of live sports production, studio centers, and distribution hubs, the 5800MSC generates high-stability reference signals spanning traditional Black Burst and Tri-Level sync to precision IEEE 1588 PTP profiles. Supported by an internal Oven Controlled Crystal Oscillator (OCXO), this 1RU appliance delivers sub-microsecond precision and robust frequency stability for continuous, mission-critical broadcasting.
Resilient Multi-Constellation Satellite Synchronization
Engineered to withstand external RF interference and signal degradation, the 5800MSC features dual-redundant multi-GNSS antenna inputs operating on dual L1 and L5 frequency bands. By locking to GPS, GLONASS, GALILEO, BEIDOU, and QZSS constellations, the clock achieves exceptional satellite lock retention even in dense urban environments. Integrated jamming and spoofing protection, alongside Evertz-exclusive TAI Slow Lock algorithms, actively rejects anomalies in GNSS data to prevent sudden phase shifts, providing seamless failover between GNSS references and external PTP sources.
High-Density High-Speed Network Connectivity
To satisfy demanding bandwidth requirements in SMPTE ST 2110 production networks, the 5800MSC is equipped with 2x 1G/10G/25G SFP28 ports and 2x 10G/25G/100G QSFP28 ports dedicated to hardware-offloaded PTP packet delivery. In addition to serving as a PTP Grandmaster, Root Leader, or Follower clock, the unit supports ST 2110-20/30/40 uncompressed IP video, audio, and metadata test pattern generation with ST 2022-7 path redundancy, ensuring thorough validation of network paths prior to go-live events.
User-Friendly Operational Control and Field Modular Upgrades
The hardware layout utilizes dedicated CPU, FPGA, and memory resources for every major subsystem, isolating control tasks from core timing generation. Adding sync pulse generator (+SPG) or test pattern generator (+TG) options is a straightforward plug-and-play process that requires no factory return. System administrators benefit from an interactive web-based dashboard featuring integrated packet capture, live logging, and REST API/NMOS/SNMP orchestration, while field technicians can quickly verify unit health using the secured front-panel full-color touchscreen.
