The Evertz 7720ADC-A4 and 7720ADC-A4-B are broadcast-grade 24-bit Analog-to-Digital Audio Converters engineered to bridge legacy analog audio infrastructure with modern digital AES workflow environments. Processing up to 4 balanced analog audio inputs via removable terminal strips, the modules output 2 AES/EBU digital audio streams at a fixed 48kHz sample rate. The standard 7720ADC-A4 provides unbalanced 75Ω coaxial outputs per SMPTE ST 276, while the 7720ADC-A4-B model delivers balanced AES outputs to meet diverse plant wiring standards.

Flexible Synchronization and Precision Gain Control

To guarantee system synchronization, the 7720ADC-A4 features a reference input that automatically detects and locks to either a DARS signal or standard NTSC/PAL composite video reference. In the absence of an external reference, the internal clock defaults to a 48kHz free-run state. Signal headroom management is simplified with a selectable $0\text{ dBFS}$ range spanning $+8\text{ dBu}$ to $+27\text{ dBu}$. Operators can make fine gain adjustments between $-10\text{ dB}$ and $+10\text{ dB}$ using a card-edge toggle switch, with real-time level values displayed directly on an onboard readout.

Advanced Monitoring and System Integration

Designed for high-density multi-channel rack applications, the 7720ADC-A4 occupies a single slot in Evertz 7700FR and 7800FR series enclosures. The module incorporates 4-channel card-edge bargraph VU meters, allowing engineers to verify signal presence and gain structure without specialized test equipment. When deployed in a 7800FR frame equipped with a 7800FC Frame Controller module, full remote management, parameter configuration, and automated SNMP status monitoring are enabled through VistaLINK® software or compatible VUE remote control panels.
