High-Precision Component Analog to Digital Conversion

The Evertz 7730ADC and 7730ADC-A4 are broadcast-quality Component Analog Video to Serial Digital Converters designed to bridge legacy analog video gear with 270 Mb/s SD-SDI digital infrastructure. Featuring 10-bit, $54\text{ MHz}$ oversampling, these modules process standard YPbPr or RGB analog video formats (SMPTE/EBU N10, Betacam™, MII) while maintaining complete 10-bit digital integrity throughout signal processing. Each channel offers programmable video parameters, allowing operators to fine-tune black levels, input gain, and inter-channel timing delays in $18\text{ ns}$ increments across all three components.

Audio Embedding and Frame Synchronization

The expanded 7730ADC-A4 variant incorporates a 4-channel analog audio A-to-D conversion stage via removable terminal strips. It digitizes 4 balanced analog inputs into 24-bit $48\text{ kHz}$ digital audio, embedding one complete audio group into the outgoing SDI stream while providing 2 unbalanced AES outputs on standard BNC connectors. When configured with the optional frame synchronizer (+S option), incoming video is locked to an external composite genlock or DARS reference. The audio path automatically tracks video sync delay and provides up to 5 seconds of independent offset delay.

On-Screen Display Monitoring and Network Management

Engineered with built-in signal monitoring tools, the 7730ADC series outputs configurable OSD text, VITC timecode readouts, and multi-channel VU/PPM audio level bargraphs on its composite/SDI monitoring outputs. Internal signal diagnostic engines constantly verify video and audio health, instantly triggering visual on-screen alerts or remote alarm traps. When installed in Evertz 7800FR or 7801FR frame enclosures with a 7800FC Frame Controller module, full setup, status monitoring, and automated parameter configuration are managed via VistaLINK® network management over SNMP.
