Product Overview +
Broadcast-Grade Digital-to-Component Analog Conversion
The Evertz 7730DAC series delivers precision digital-to-analog conversion, translating 270 Mb/s component SD-SDI signals (525/625 line) into broadcast-quality component analog video. Employing 12-bit over-sampled video DACs, the card outputs high-fidelity YPbPr or GBR video formats compliant with SMPTE/EBU N10, Betacam, MII, and NTSC standards. Operators can adjust black levels ($\pm 10\text{ IRE}$), component gain ($>\pm 7.5\%$), and setup pedestal. In addition to four component output BNCs, the card provides a re-clocked SDI loop-through output to maintain digital signal integrity downstream.
Frame Synchronization and Signal Diagnostics
Equipped with an optional full-frame video synchronizer (+S option), the 7730DAC locks outgoing video to an external composite genlock reference (NTSC or PAL-B). Output phase can be adjusted in 27MHz clock increments, while selectable freeze modes (black, freeze, or pass) safeguard video feeds during signal loss. The module includes a dedicated composite monitoring output that generates On-Screen Display (OSD) menus, real-time VU/PPM audio bar graphs, and burned-in Vertical Interval Timecode (VITC). Built-in fault monitoring analyzes incoming video and audio streams, triggering on-screen warnings or remote alerts when errors occur.
Audio De-embedding and Analog Output Conversion (-A4 Option)
The 7730DAC-A4 option adds 4-channel digital audio processing in a 2-slot module configuration:
- Audio Routing & De-embedding: De-embeds one full audio group (4 channels, 20-bit) from the incoming SDI stream or accepts two unbalanced 24-bit BNC AES inputs (32kHz–48kHz), allowing users to select between embedded or discrete AES sources.
- Balanced Analog Outputs: Outputs four 24-bit balanced analog audio channels on removable terminal blocks ($66\ \Omega$ output impedance) with programmable output levels ($0\text{ dBFS} = +12\text{ to }+25\text{ dBu}$).
- Delay Tracking & Alignment: Automatically syncs audio delay to video processing, offering up to 5 seconds of additional audio delay or up to 1 frame of advance.
When housed in Evertz 7800FR frames with a 7800FC Frame Controller, the entire series integrates into VistaLINK® SNMP control networks.
