High-Definition Digital-to-Analog Conversion

The Evertz 7731DAC-HD provides broadcast-quality digital-to-analog video conversion for high-definition production environments. Processing 1.5 Gb/s HD-SDI inputs conforming to SMPTE ST 292-1, the card converts incoming digital video into 10-bit, 4:4:4 interpolated analog component output. It supports all standard 1080i, 1080p, and 720p HDTV video formats defined by SMPTE ST 274 and SMPTE ST 296. Card-edge controls allow operators to switch output signal types easily between YPbPr, RGB, and VGA formats depending on display requirements.

Framing Tools and Connectivity Options

To simplify monitoring across mixed aspect ratio environments, the 7731DAC-HD includes built-in 4:3 alignment markers. These markers can be toggled via General Purpose Inputs (GPI) to provide accurate visual references for framing widescreen 16:9 content for 4:3 broadcast delivery. The card is available in two hardware configurations: the standard 7731DAC-HD equipped with 4 BNC connectors for broadcast monitors, and the 7731DAC-HD+V version featuring a high-density DB-15 female connector and opto-isolated GPI inputs for driving VGA displays.

Signal Integrity and Remote Management

The 7731DAC-HD includes automatic cable equalization capable of compensating for up to 125 meters of high-grade Belden 1694A coaxial cable at HD data rates. Occupying a single slot in Evertz 7700 or 7800 series enclosures, the card draws just 9W of power. When managed within a 7800FR frame equipped with a 7800FC Frame Controller, the card offers full VistaLINK® SNMP control and monitoring, enabling station engineers to track operating parameters and signal integrity remotely.
