Product Overview +
Broadcast-Quality 12-Bit Composite Decoding
The Evertz 7837CDM series offers high-grade composite analog to serial digital video conversion designed for broadcast ingest, legacy conversion, and signal conditioning. By utilizing 12-bit video A-to-D sampling combined with 3D adaptive comb filtering, the 7837CDM effectively isolates luminance and chrominance while eliminating motion artifacts and cross-color interference. The module features integrated processing amplifiers that allow operators to precisely adjust black level, gain, hue, saturation, luma detail enhancement, noise reduction, and optional Chroma AGC.
Frame Synchronization and Versatile Video Inputs
In addition to composite video decoding, the 7837CDM functions as a versatile frame synchronizer. The card includes one analog composite video input and one non-reclocked SMPTE ST 259-C SD-SDI input. Its internal frame synchronizer locks to a composite genlock reference, providing infinitely variable output phase adjustments in 27MHz clock increments and a specialized mode for handling non-time base corrected (non-TBC) video sources. In the event of signal loss, users can configure freeze modes to display frozen video or black.
Audio Digitizing, Embedding, and Network Management (-A4 Option)
The 7837CDM-A4 variant incorporates high-performance audio conversion, digitizing four balanced analog audio inputs (two stereo pairs) at 24-bit 48 kHz resolution:
- Audio Embedding: Multiplexes a full audio group (4 channels) onto the outgoing SD-SDI video stream with audio delay tracking video processing up to 2.5 seconds.
- Discrete AES Outputs: Provides 2 unbalanced BNC AES outputs for external audio routing.
- Diagnostics & Control: Includes a dedicated composite monitoring output displaying On-Screen Display (OSD) text for local card setup. When installed in 7700FR or 7800FR enclosures with a frame controller card, the module is fully SNMP enabled for control via VistaLINK® software or Evertz hardware panels such as the VUE-CP232 and VUE-TOUCH2-12R.
