Complete SDI Time Code Management

The Evertz 8010TM SDI Time Code Master is a comprehensive 1RU time code reader, generator, and character inserter designed for standard-definition serial digital video environments (525/625 component digital). Engineered for broadcast master control, post-production, and tape ingest suites, the 8010TM handles Linear Time Code (LTC according to SMPTE ST 12-1) and Digital Vertical Interval Time Code (D-VITC according to SMPTE ST 266) simultaneously.

High-Resolution Visual Character Insertion

Equipped with an integrated character generator, the 8010TM burns timecode numbers and user-bit data directly into the active picture on the serial digital video output and optional analog composite monitoring output. Operators can position each character display window independently across the frame. To preserve digital stream compliance, the 8010TM recalculates EDH packets after inserting VITC or burn-in text, ensuring downstream equipment receives fully compliant SDI video.

Flexible Synchronization and Control Architecture

The onboard time code generator can be preset to frame-lock to the incoming SDI feed or color-lock to an external analog reference, strictly maintaining proper 4-field NTSC or 8-field PAL color sequences. Features such as momentary or continuous jam-sync, user-bit transfer, and 25 FPS to 29.97 FPS SMPTE drop-frame conversion provide versatile handling of complex frame rate translations. The unit also allows contact closure data to be embedded directly into VITC user bits via GPI.

Rugged 1RU Chassis with Power Redundant Options

Housed in a compact 19-inch 1RU rackmount frame, the 8010TM includes an intuitive front-panel 16-digit alphanumeric display paired with 16 dedicated control buttons. The primary SDI input provides automatic cable equalization up to 200 meters over Belden 8281 coax. For mission-critical installations, optional hardware configurations include a mechanical input bypass relay for uncompromised signal pass-through during power loss, as well as a dual power supply setup.
