Product Overview +
High-Capability Dragon Fire Frame Architecture
The Evertz DF9-FR and DF1-FR Dragon Fire (DF) series of multicard frames represent a high-performance modular platform engineered for high-density routing, IP media gateways, and complex broadcast signal processing. Drawing on the proven heritage of Evertz EMX series multiframes, the Dragon Fire platform accommodates next-generation processing cards with significantly larger form factors and heavy power demands. Cards install vertically in the 10RU DF9-FR or horizontally in the 1RU DF1-FR, allowing technical facilities to chain custom video, audio, and IP processing cards together seamlessly.
Extreme Power Handling and Engineered Thermal Control
Built specifically to power high-throughput broadcast infrastructure, the Dragon Fire chassis delivers up to 750 watts of processing power per slot (up to 7500W total frame consumption for a fully loaded 10RU unit). To manage heavy heat dissipation, the 10RU DF9-FR incorporates top-mounted fans operating in a front-to-top exhaust pattern, while the 1RU DF1-FR utilizes front- and rear-mounted fans with a front-to-side airflow path. This thermal design ensures continuous 24/7 operation without thermal throttling.
System Redundancy and Centralized Network Management
To prevent broadcast outages, the DF series features hot-swappable N+1 dual redundant power supplies and fan modules that can be serviced while active signal processing continues uninterrupted. Integrated dual BNC reference inputs support two separate programmable timing planes for multi-format video genlock. Full system telemetry, status alarming, and card parameter controls are communicated directly via SNMP to Evertz MAGNUM-NMS software across local or wide area networks.
