The Evertz HD9690 and HD9690-444 HDTV Graticule Generators deliver multi-format digital video graticule and matte insertion across high-definition production, post-production, and broadcast environments. Automatically sensing 1.5 Gb/s HD-SDI signals—including 1080i, 1080p, 720p, and 2K digital cinema rates—the generators key configurable markers directly over source video. While the standard HD9690 operates in single-link 4:2:2 mode, the upgraded HD9690-444 supports SMPTE ST 372 dual-link 4:4:4 RGB/$\text{Y C}_\text{b}\text{C}_\text{r}$ operation with color-space conversion to legal ITU-R BT.709 $\text{Y C}_\text{b}\text{C}_\text{r}$ outputs.

Customizable Marker On-Screen Display Tools

Equipped with an advanced graphics generator engine, both units provide extensive geometry tools to verify image framing and safe area boundaries. Operators can generate two independently positionable rectangular boxes, custom horizontal/vertical line grid pairs, programmable opacity mattes, cross markers, and aspect ratio ellipses. Real-time on-screen readouts display object dimensions, positions, and aspect ratios. Integrated factory presets offer immediate alignment with SMPTE ST 2046-1 and RP218 standard safe action/title areas, while 10 write-protected user presets allow instant recall for client-specific setups.

Advanced Output Routing and Control Integration

Housed in a compact 1RU frame, the HD9690 series offers versatile control options suited for control rooms, mobile trucks, or remote studio environments. In addition to primary SDI program and monitoring outputs, a dedicated DVI-I output allows direct connection to commercial flat-panel screens. System control can be managed via the intuitive front panel, 8 programmable GPI triggers, or optional RS-422 rack-mount and desktop remote control panels (+RCP/+DCP). An optional 3D video mode on the HD9690-444 enables simultaneous graticule keying across two independent ST 292 4:2:2 video streams.
