Product Overview +

Flexible Virtualized Media Processing

The Evertz MIO-BLADE-Z21 is a high-density, FPGA-powered virtualized compute module designed to deliver maximum agility at the network edge. Occupying two slots across Evertz modular MIO frame platforms, the module moves media infrastructure away from fixed-function hardware to a dynamic, software-defined architecture. Powered by the Evertz Virtualized Compression Stack, the MIO-BLADE-Z21 runs a broad catalog of reconfigurable microservice applications (APPs) enabled via temporal or perpetual software licenses. Facilities can instantly redeploy modules to meet shifting production demands, transitioning capital expenses to an flexible opex model.

Broad Protocol & Codec Support

Depending on the loaded microservice APP, the MIO-BLADE-Z21 provides versatile processing capabilities:

  • IP Gateways: Configurable 8-path gateways for SMPTE ST 2110-10/20/30/40 and ST 2022-2/6 with ST 2022-7 hitless merge and 2sI quad/single-link UHD conversion.
  • Low-Latency JPEG XS: Modular encoding and decoding of 12G/3G/HD-SDI video over TR-07 with selectable path profiles (2E2D, 3E1D, or 1E3D).
  • JPEG2000 & Up/Down/Cross Conversion: Flexible JPEG2000 processing paired with 3G (dual-channel) or 4K UHD (single-channel) UDX, complete with 3D LUT-based HDR/SDR transformations.
  • UHD Signal Bridging: Bi-directional UHD quad-link to single-link conversion supporting both Two-Sample Interleave (2sI) and Square Division (SQD) formats.

Robust Hardware Architecture and Control

Equipped with 8 reclocked HD-BNC connectors, the MIO-BLADE-Z21 automatically equalizes coax cable runs up to 80m at 3G-SDI and 250m at SD-SDI. Operating at a low power footprint of 20W, the module interfaces with Evertz ecosystem management tools including MAGNUM, VistaLINK, and cross-platform RESTful Web APIs, while ensuring full interoperability in open-standard IP fabrics through NMOS IS-04, IS-05, and BCP-002-01 compliance.
