Product Overview +

Software-Defined Virtualized Compute Architecture

The Evertz MIO-BLADE-Z21 is a high-density, FPGA-based compute module engineered to deliver maximum operational agility within broadcast and IP media facilities. Rather than relying on fixed-function hardware, the MIO-BLADE-Z21 operates as a reconfigurable edge processor capable of running a suite of virtualized software applications (APPs) from the Evertz Virtualized Compression Stack. Software functionality can be deployed, swapped, or updated remotely via software licenses, allowing media facilities to adapt dynamically to changing workflow demands without replacing physical hardware.

Extensive Software APP Ecosystem and Signal Processing

By loading specialized software APPs onto the blade, operators can configure the MIO-BLADE-Z21 for a wide range of critical signal processing and gateway tasks:

  • IP Gateway APPs (MIO-APP-IPG-2110 / 2022): Delivers up to 8 configurable gateway paths with support for SMPTE ST 2110 (-10/-20/-30/-40), ST 2022-2/6, ST 2022-7 hitless merge, and 2SI quad/single link conversions.
  • Low-Latency Compression APPs: Supports multi-channel JPEG-XS (TR-07) encoding/decoding up to 12G-SDI and JPEG2000 3G/HD-SDI compression.
  • Up/Down/Cross & HDR APPs: Offers single-channel 4K or dual-channel 3G UDX conversion with advanced 3D LUT-based HDR processing.
  • Utility APPs: Enables A/V signal delay paths (up to 10 seconds for HD) and bi-directional UHD quad-to-single-link conversions (2SI and SQD).

Flexible SCORPION Chassis Deployment and Control

Designed in a compact dual-slot MIO form factor, the MIO-BLADE-Z21 installs directly into Evertz SCORPION media processing frames (including SCORPION-X18, SCORPION-6, and SCORPION-2). Equipped with 8 high-performance 75Ω HDBNC connectors for 12G/3G/HD/SD-SDI signal paths, the module features a device-hosted web GUI, open web API, and full NMOS compliance for seamless integration into modern broadcast control and orchestration systems.
