FPGA-Accelerated Virtualized Compute Architecture

The Evertz MIO-BLADE-Z22-SFP is a single-node, FPGA-accelerated microservice compute module engineered to combine the flexibility of virtualized software with the ultra-low latency and deterministic performance of dedicated hardware. Designed as a key expansion to the MIO-BLADE platform, this reconfigurable blade allows broadcast operators to dynamically reflash the module's firmware to execute specific, high-capacity media processing and IP transport functions at the network edge.

Integrated Optical SFP and Baseband Connectivity

Unlike standard SDI-only compute blades, the MIO-BLADE-Z22-SFP features direct optical and Ethernet interfacing on the card edge. Equipped with 4x 75Ω HDBNC connectors supporting up to 12G-SDI alongside 2x 1/10/25G SFP/SFP+ ports, the blade acts as a powerful optical video transceiver and physical network separation tool. This dual I/O structure enables direct ingestion of optical video streams while maintaining secure isolation between distinct network domains.

Specialized Utility Software Applications

By deploying targeted firmware applications, the MIO-BLADE-Z22-SFP adapts instantly to critical network processing roles:

  • Hardware-Accelerated SRT Gateway (MIO-APP-SRT): Delivers high-throughput 2GB/s SRT flow processing for secure, low-latency video transport over public IP networks.
  • ST 2110 Firewall Gateway (MIO-APP-IPG-2110-SFP): Provides 2 bi-directional SMPTE ST 2110 gateway paths with built-in network isolation and NMOS IS-04/05 management.
  • FEC & Hitless Merge Utility (MIO-APP-FEC): Features 16 processing paths capable of inserting FEC error correction, applying RTP removal, or executing SMPTE ST 2022-2/7 redundancy duplication and hitless merge protection.
