Compact Hybrid Timing for Next-Generation Media Networks
The Evertz MIO-PTP is an exceptionally flexible, small-form-factor Precision Time Protocol (PTP) and baseband timing module designed to solve complex synchronization challenges across modern broadcast environments. Whether deployed as a compact standalone master clock for small production setups, a top-of-rack PTP-to-baseband sync generator in hybrid facilities, or a remote timing extension over WAN networks, the MIO-PTP eliminates the need for bulky coaxial distribution systems while delivering sub-microsecond reference precision.
Dual GNSS and PTP Synchronization with Automatic Failover
Built around an ultra-stable Oven Controlled Crystal Oscillator (OCXO), the MIO-PTP locks seamlessly to incoming network PTP streams or direct multi-constellation satellite signals. Supporting GPS, GLONASS, GALILEO, BEIDOU, and QZSS constellations across dual-band L1/L5 frequencies, it accepts both smart GNSS antennas and standard RF antennas. Operators can configure automated revertive or non-revertive failover switching between GNSS and PTP sources, ensuring uninterrupted phase stability and signal lock during primary reference disruptions.
Flexible Baseband Sync and Precision Pulse Outputs
Despite its compact footprint, the MIO-PTP provides two independently timeable 75-ohm HD-BNC outputs capable of generating Black Burst (with or without VITC), HD Tri-Level sync, 10MHz references, and Word Clock signals to keep legacy SDI gear synchronized. For high-precision timecode and synchronization applications, the card also includes dedicated, separate HD-BNC connectors for positive (+1PPS) and negative (-1PPS) pulse-per-second output alignment.
High-Density SCORPION Deployment and High-Speed Connectivity
As a dual-slot MIO module within the Evertz SCORPION family, the card integrates easily into ultra-compact frames such as the SCORPION-2F (occupying less than half a square foot of rack space) as well as larger SCORPION-6F, S18, and SX18 frames. Supporting up to two 10Gb/s PTP network ports, dual control ports, and optional +WAN extended timing capabilities, the MIO-PTP provides enterprise-grade network synchronization in a high-density, energy-efficient package.
