Product Overview +
Hybrid Signal Normalization and Transcoding Architecture
The Evertz RFK-ITXE-HW-DUO is a purpose-built, FPGA-accelerated server blade designed to solve the complexity of hybrid broadcast infrastructure. Functioning as a single point of entry for any input signal, the blade normalizes, adapts, and converts incoming feeds into required output formats—eliminating the need for separate standalone gateways, transcoders, frame synchronizers, and IPTV encoders. Occupying a single slot in Evertz Dragon Fire (DF1-DD-FR / DF9-DD-FR) dual-density frame enclosures, it provides virtualized resource flexibility with sub-frame FPGA latency and deterministic real-time processing.
Flexible Software Application Builds
The platform features dynamic application builds to adapt to specific production, contribution, or distribution requirements:
- Application Build with Decode: Supports up to 4 transcode paths. Decodes incoming H.265, H.264, MPEG-2, JPEG XS, or J2K streams and normalizes them for baseband or IP distribution.
- Application Build without Decode: Enables up to 12 transcode paths for high-density signal normalization and conversion across uncompressed IP and SDI signals.
- Application Build IPTV & JPEG XS Encode: Supports up to 8 transcode paths with simultaneous H.264/HEVC 4:2:0 8-bit IPTV encoding (with SRT/RIST rewrapping) and high-quality JPEG XS encoding per path.
Advanced Video Processing and Color Conversion
Each transcode path drives an independent normalization block packed with processing features:
- Up/Down/Cross Conversion (UDX): Full resolution scaling between 720p, 1080i, 1080p, and 3840x2160p UHD (Level A) standards with aspect ratio control.
- SDR / HDR Conversion: Bidirectional conversion between SDR and High Dynamic Range (HDR) color spaces.
- Audio & Ancillary Data Handling: Complete audio processing (gain, inversion, mixing) for AAC, AC3, Dolby Digital Plus, MPEG-2, Dolby E, and PCM pass-through alongside frame synchronization via PTP or analog genlock.
High-Bandwidth IP & Density Interfaces
To handle mass signal density, the RFK-ITXE-HW-DUO features high-capacity connectivity including four 100GbE QSFP ports and dual 10GbE SFP slots. Paired with the ITXER-RP-IC32OC32-D dual-density rear panel, the module exposes 32 HD-BNC coaxial inputs and outputs for direct high-density baseband video processing.
