The Evertz XPS Series is a high-performance video encoding and decoding platform engineered for mission-critical live broadcast contribution, remote production (REMI), eSports, and cloud gateway workflows. Built to deliver high visual quality over managed broadcast links and unmanaged public Internet connections, the XPS platform gives operators total flexibility to ingest, compress, scale, and route live video feeds between facilities and edge endpoints.

Multi-Codec Flexibility and Built-in Processing

The XPS platform features dynamic multi-codec engine switching to adapt to varying bandwidth availability and latency requirements:

  • Production & Mezzanine Codecs: Low-latency JPEG-XS and JPEG 2000 for inter-facility video transport.
  • Distribution & Streaming Codecs: High-efficiency HEVC (H.265) and H.264 4:2:2 10-bit compression for bandwidth-optimized streaming.
  • Integrated Signal Processing: Incorporates a built-in UDX core for real-time resolution scaling/frame rate conversion, dynamic JPEG-XS to HEVC transcoding, bi-directional ASI-to-SRT conversion, and SMPTE ST 2038 VANC data preservation.

Robust IP Transport and Hybrid Interfaces

Bridging traditional SDI environments with next-generation IP infrastructures, the XPS series provides physical 12G/3G/HD-SDI and HDBNC connections alongside SMPTE ST 2110-20/22 IP streaming. To guarantee packet delivery across unmanaged networks, the platform embeds reliable streaming protocols including SRT, RIST, Zixi, and RTMP/RTMPS.

  • 5782XPS-HW Modular Card: Single-slot card configurable as a 4-channel encoder, 4-channel decoder, or 2x2 bi-directional unit. Accommodates up to 4 cards in 1RU or up to 14 cards in a 3RU chassis (providing up to 56 channels with high-bandwidth 100GbE QSFP ports).
  • XPS-EDGE Standalone Unit: Compact, portable desktop unit designed for field deployments, OB vans, and mobile production kits.
  • MIO-XPS Module: Dual-slot module engineered for installation into Evertz MIO processing frames.
