Product Overview +
Inertial Real-Time Camera Tracking for XR & Virtual Production
The FOR-A ClassX KOALA is a compact, ultra-lightweight inertial camera tracking system designed to eliminate complex calibration routines in virtual studio and augmented reality (AR) workflows. Weighing just 132 grams, KOALA mounts directly onto standard camera tripod heads, jibs, or cranes. It captures real-time Pan, Tilt, and Roll movements without requiring ceiling optical markers, floor grids, or external tracking cameras, making it an ideal tracking engine for indoor studios, sports arenas, or outdoor live events.
Dual Tracking Configurations & Crane Expansion
KOALA is available in two modular configurations to match diverse production setups. The KOALA Head Kit provides 3-axis angular orientation alongside direct zoom and focus tracking via standard Fujinon or Canon lens Virtual connectors. For dynamic camera moves, the KOALA Crane Kit adds an auxiliary sensor module (26 g) that derives 6-DOF (Degree of Freedom) spatial positioning (XYZ) along with angular data, bringing crane and jib tracking into virtual environments at a fraction of traditional costs.
Broadcast Synchronization & Universal Integration
Built for professional broadcast integration, KOALA features an analog Genlock sync input (PAL/NTSC) to keep positional data locked to live video frames. Positional data is output over Ethernet, Wi-Fi, or RS485 using standard FreeD and OSC protocols, ensuring seamless compatibility with real-time graphics engines including ClassX Elitium, Brainstorm eStudio, Unreal Engine, and Vizrt. Setup is managed via an onboard OLED display or a web-based management platform featuring automated self-leveling (AutoLevel) and over-the-air (OTA) firmware updates.
