Professional Broadcast Latency & Synchronization Measurement
The FOR-A EDD-5400 is an advanced 4K-capable video and audio time lag checker designed to solve complex timing, buffering, and synchronization challenges in live broadcasting, international contribution feeds, and outside broadcast (OB) deployments. Operating across 12G/3G/HD-SDI signal paths, the unit generates proprietary Test Time Code (TTC) signals and compares returning feeds against house reference or internal time code standards to quantify processing and transmission delays.
Comprehensive Signal Discrepancy & VANC Analysis
Built to evaluate multi-stage signal chains, the EDD-5400 measures delay differences between incoming and outgoing signals even when format or frame-rate conversion has taken place. It evaluates active video latency, relative channel-to-channel audio drift, and lip-sync alignment. By embedding TTC signals into VANC user data areas, the system also pinpoints timing discrepancies between primary video tracks and ancillary data streams (such as closed captions or metadata).
Long-Distance Remote Measurement & Network Logging
For remote sports and international live events, two EDD-5400 units locked via GNSS (GPS) reference clocks can measure absolute end-to-end transmission latency over thousands of miles. The system operates independently of underlying compression standards, allowing engineers to check latency variances caused by codecs, IP wrappers, or satellite hops. Built-in Ethernet data logging allows operators to stream detailed measurement records and timing diagnostics directly to PC software for continuous facility monitoring.
