It is built around a 43.8mm × 32.9mm GFX 102MP CMOS II HS sensor and uses FUJIFILM’s X-Processor 5 image engine for detailed image capture, rich color reproduction, and flexible post-production performance.
The camera supports multiple cinema recording formats, including 4K 4:3 Open Gate up to 48p and 6.3K Super 35 up to 24p, giving filmmakers flexibility for large-format, anamorphic, and Super 35 production styles. It also includes internal ProRes 422 HQ, H.265, proxy recording, 14.5 stops of dynamic range, dual-native ISO, and electronic variable ND filtration for professional cinema workflows.
Large-Format Cinema Sensor
The GFX ETERNA 55 features FUJIFILM’s large-format 102MP GFX CMOS II HS sensor, offering a cinematic field of view, high-resolution capture, smooth tonal gradation, and strong flexibility for cropping, reframing, and post-production. The sensor size is 43.8mm × 32.9mm, making it significantly larger than full-frame cinema sensors.
Professional Cinema Recording
The camera is designed for serious film and video production, supporting 4K 4:3 Open Gate up to 48p and 6.3K Super 35 up to 24p. Internal recording options include ProRes 422 HQ, H.265, and proxy files, allowing efficient professional workflows from acquisition to editing.
Lens Mount and Workflow Flexibility
The GFX ETERNA 55 uses a native FUJIFILM G mount and supports ARRI PL mount operation through an adapter, making it suitable for both FUJINON GF lenses and professional cinema lens workflows. FUJIFILM also lists multiple shooting format options, including GF, Premista, 35mm, anamorphic, and Super 35 formats.
Exposure and Color Control
The built-in electronic variable ND filter provides ND4 to ND128 adjustment, helping filmmakers control exposure in changing lighting conditions without disrupting aperture or shutter choices. The camera also supports Film Simulation, F-Log2, F-Log2 C, F-Log, HLG, and in-camera 3D LUT storage for professional color management.
