Product Overview +

Overview

The Neumann KK 131 with KM A is a modular small-diaphragm condenser microphone system designed for highly accurate omnidirectional recording. The KK 131 capsule uses a free-field equalized pressure-transducer design, providing a flat response in direct sound up to 20 kHz. Combined with the transformerless KM A analog output stage, it delivers low noise, wide dynamic range, high electromagnetic immunity, and dependable performance for demanding studio, broadcast, orchestral, and acoustic recording applications.

Free-Field Equalized Omnidirectional Response

The KK 131 features an omnidirectional pickup pattern optimized for free-field recording. Its sensitivity remains flat in direct sound up to 20 kHz, supporting natural tonal reproduction when the microphone is positioned close to instruments or sound sources. In diffuse sound fields, its high-frequency response gradually rolls off above 5 kHz.

Natural Low-Frequency and Spatial Reproduction

As a true pressure transducer, the KK 131 captures low frequencies without proximity effect and provides consistent tonal response regardless of source angle. This makes it especially suitable for orchestras, choirs, grand piano, organ, room ambience, acoustic ensembles, measurement-style recording, and spaced omnidirectional stereo techniques.

KM A Analog Output Stage

The KM A is a transformerless analog output stage powered by standard 48 V phantom power. It includes switchable 10 dB pre-attenuation, allowing the microphone system to handle sound pressure levels up to 150 dB with the KK 131 capsule while maintaining clean, low-distortion performance.

Flexible Modular Microphone System

The KK 131 is part of Neumann’s KM A/D modular system. The capsule can be detached from the output stage and positioned remotely using compatible extension cables and accessories, with supported distances of up to 100 metres. This enables discreet microphone placement in concert halls, broadcast studios, installed systems, and complex production environments.

Professional Recording Applications

The KK 131 with KM A is ideal for classical music, orchestral recording, acoustic ensembles, room ambience, piano, choir, organ, broadcast production, and other applications where natural frequency response and accurate spatial capture are essential.
