Product Overview +

Twelve-Fibre Breakout Cable

The Percon FO1210BHF is a single-mode fibre optic cable with twelve fibres of 9.3/125 micron. It is a breakout design, so each fibre has its own tight-buffered sheath and can be terminated directly with connectors. It suits backbone and equipment links where several fibres run together between racks, buildings or broadcast sites, reducing the need for separate pigtails on each fibre.

Tight Buffer and Termination

Each fibre is tight-buffered, which means it can be stripped and terminated without splicing a separate pigtail. The gel-free design simplifies stripping and makes the termination process faster in the field, which reduces install time on large projects where many connections must be made by the same crew in a short window. Because each fibre is separately protected, the crew can work fibre by fibre without disturbing the others in the bundle.

Mechanical Strength and Construction

The cable is built to the DIN VDE 0888/6 standard and is described as very strong and resistant to crushing. It is completely dielectric, so it contains no metal and can be installed where electrical isolation or lightning exposure is a concern. Its robust build helps it survive pulling and routing through ducts and trays, which protects the fibres during the installation process.

Handling and Installation Practice

Respect the minimum bend radius and avoid pulling on the fibres directly. Use cable grips rated for the outer diameter, and protect the terminated ends in the patch panel from dust and knocks. Test each fibre with an OTDR or power meter after installation, so that any fault is found while the installation crew is still on site and can be corrected quickly.

Selecting the Breakout Option

Choose the FO1210BHF for twelve-fibre single-mode runs where direct termination saves time on site. For fewer fibres, the four-fibre FO410DPUR/B is a good alternative with a lighter build. Quotes are issued by length and connector type, so include both in the enquiry to receive an accurate offer for the link and the terminations required. Choosing the right count at the design stage avoids paying for unused fibres or having to add a second cable later on.
