Product Overview +

Eight-Fibre High-Density Cable

The Percon FO810DHDHF is an eight-fibre single-mode cable made for high-density indoor installations. The design is intended to terminate in patch boxes and racks, where cable diameter and fibre count need to be balanced against available routing space. It suits projects where equipment rooms are compact and cable management is a priority for the installation team.

Loose Buffer Design

This cable uses a loose-buffer, or DHD, construction. The overall diameter is very reduced, and the tube can hold up to twenty-four loose fibres, so the cable can be expanded in capacity later if the project grows. Fibres are not tightly coupled to the sheath, which means a different stripping and handling procedure from tight-buffer cables, and the technician must follow the correct steps.

Armour and Core Protection

The cable has a fibreglass reinforcement armour and a jelly-filled central tube that protects the fibres against humidity. It is completely dielectric, which keeps it safe where metal would be a concern for earthing or lightning exposure. The reinforcement helps the cable keep its shape during pulling and routing through patch boxes and tight risers in buildings.

Termination Procedure Steps

Loose-buffer fibres need a dedicated stripping and splicing procedure. Work in a clean area, use the correct tube cutter, and terminate the fibres inside the patch box with matched pigtails or fanout kits. Test each fibre after the splice or termination to confirm that the link is within the expected attenuation limits before handing the system over.

Using the High-Density Cable

Choose the FO810DHDHF for compact, high-count indoor links into patch boxes where space is limited and future expansion may be needed. For direct termination with fewer fibres, the tight-buffer FO1210BHF or FO410DPUR/B are simpler options. Quotes are issued by length and fibre count, so send both with the enquiry to receive an accurate offer. Planning the fibre count early also helps the patch box layout stay tidy as the system grows.
