Product Overview +
Low-Loss RF Coaxial Cable
The Percon RF 240 is a 50 ohm coaxial cable made for radio frequency signal runs in fixed installations. The manufacturer describes it as having very low losses and suits trunk installations, where the length of run and the attenuation budget are the main design factors for the link. It is a practical choice for fixed RF feeds between equipment rooms, transmitters and antenna positions across a site.
Core and Dielectric Design
The centre conductor is copper-clad aluminium of 15 AWG, with a cross-section of 1.58 mm squared. A solid FHDPE dielectric sits around it. Solid core construction helps keep the impedance uniform along the run and reduces loss at the operating frequencies, which supports a predictable link budget over longer trunk distances used in fixed installations.
Shield and Jacket Specification
The shield is Al-PET with a braided CuSn layer, giving good screening for RF signals against outside interference. The jacket is FRLSZH, which limits smoke and halogen gases in a fire. The nominal diameter is 6.1 mm, and the cable is listed for fixed installation only, so it should not be used where it will be flexed regularly or moved during operation of the equipment.
Installation and Termination
Use 50 ohm RF connectors matched to the 6.1 mm outer diameter and the copper-clad aluminium core. Cutting and stripping must be done with tools sized for this cable, and the connectors should be fitted to the manufacturer procedure so the return loss stays stable. Check each termination before the link is put into service.
Selection Guidance for Your Link
Choose the RF 240 for fixed trunk runs where the link budget is tight and the route is long. For RF jumpers, patch leads or flexible runs, a mobile-rated 50 ohm cable is a better fit. Quotes are issued by length, so send the route and connector list with the enquiry to receive an accurate offer that matches the installation plan and the equipment you are connecting.
