Product Overview +

Miniature Multicore Video Cable

The Percon VK 500 is a compact multicore cable made for professional Y/C and RGBHV video applications. It also suits miniature audio, video and control runs where space in a camera head, rig or mobile unit is limited. The overall diameter of 9 mm keeps the bundle manageable while still carrying several separate signals in one jacket, which simplifies cable management in tight equipment.

Conductors and Shielding

The cable has five tinned copper conductors of 28 AWG, built from 7/36 stranding for flexibility. A CuSn shield protects the conductors from interference, which matters because Y/C and component signals are sensitive to crosstalk even over short distances. The fine stranding also helps the cable bend around small radii inside camera bodies and equipment cabinets without strain.

Jacket and Mobile Use

The PTC jacket suits mobile installation, where cables move, bend and get rolled onto reels during production work. The VK 500 is intended for those flexible runs, not for buried or heavy-duty fixed trunking, so choose the right construction for the environment. Confirm the jacket colour and length requirements before placing an order for a full reel of the cable.

Termination Practice Guidance

The fine 28 AWG conductors need careful stripping and small-contact connectors. Use the connector series specified for miniature multicore cables and check each contact under magnification before assembly, since small strands can break easily during the work. Work in a clean area and secure the shield properly so the signal stays protected at the connector and the link performs as expected.

Where the VK 500 Fits

Specify the VK 500 when a camera, monitor or control link needs several small signals in a slim cable. For heavier multicore needs, the VK 5065 or VK 8065 are the better choice, since they carry more coaxials. Quotes are issued by length and configuration, so send the length and signal list when enquiring to receive an accurate offer for your rig.
