Next-Generation Camera Tracking for Advanced Spatial Environments
The Sony OCELLUS is a revolutionary professional-grade Markerless Camera Tracking System designed to deliver absolute spatial precision across virtual production sets, augmented reality (AR) broadcast spaces, and complex VFX pipelines. By utilizing highly advanced Visual SLAM (Simultaneous Localization and Mapping) technology, the OCELLUS sensor directly registers physical feature points in its environment. This removes the time-consuming process of rigging retroreflective targets or ceiling markers, drastically reducing reflections on set and preventing cleanup work in post-production.
Multifaceted Industrial Optics and Rugged Field Reliability
The physical design of the OCELLUS tracker centers on a compact, five-sided sensor block that can be mounted in any directional layout using a standard integrated NATO rail. Operating four of its five specialized optical tracks simultaneously, the system provides a wide field of view that tracks flawlessly around physical obstacles. If direct sunlight shifts or stage gear blocks three of the viewports, the internal processor can still maintain full tracking integrity using data from a single remaining face. Built for demanding production environments, the dust- and moisture-resistant shell includes infrared LED emitters on each face to ensure stable tracking calculations on dark virtual stages or night shoots.
Real-Time Compositing and Streamlined Post-Production Handshake
The processing box at the core of the OCELLUS system serves as a high-speed media hub for modern real-time graphics engines (such as Unreal Engine). By processing direct camera metadata via a single SDI pipeline or capturing third-party glass data through the included 7-pin LEMO lens encoder, it allows production crews to monitor fully composited, live green-screen or LED volume previews on set. For post-production teams, the system records timecode-matched camera motion profiles straight to an SDXC card as FBX files. This workflow simplifies match-moving tasks and ensures a smooth handoff between physical production and digital finishing suites.
Elevating Live Broadcast and Virtual Stages Natively
The Sony OCELLUS Camera Tracking System serves as a vital technical tool throughout Pakistan, the UAE, and Africa, where regional television networks, sports broadcasters, and commercial studios are building out state-of-the-art virtual sets and AR graphics configurations. Using the included Origin Point Chart, engineers can instantly align real-world physical camera spaces with complex computer-generated assets, fine-tuning positions via a clear web menu interface. Outputting data seamlessly over a standard BaseT Ethernet connection, the OCELLUS represents an incredibly flexible and robust tracking solution for premium immersive media.
