Features & Specifications
Product Overview +
Superior Image Quality
Sony VENICE 2 is built for productions that need maximum detail without sacrificing a natural, cinematic look. The 8.6K sensor delivers up to 16 stops of dynamic range, giving you room to hold highlight detail and preserve shadow texture for demanding grading and VFX workflows. You can also oversample from 8.6K to 4K for sharper 4K deliverables, or window the sensor for specific formats.
Beautiful Imagery in Any Light
With dual native ISO at 800 and 3200, VENICE 2 stays flexible when lighting conditions change quickly. It performs confidently from controlled studio scenes to practical, low-light environments, helping you keep noise low while maintaining color and skin tone accuracy. This is especially useful for fast-paced shoots where you want to change exposure strategy without changing the overall look.
Interchangeable Sensor for Production Flexibility
The camera’s sensor block can be swapped in the field, so you can adapt the body to different production needs. VENICE 2 supports using an optional 6K sensor block (not included), which can be valuable when you need higher frame rates or want to match a specific pipeline. The camera automatically recognizes the sensor block, so you can switch without additional software steps.
Internal Recording, Cleaner Rigs
VENICE 2 records internally to AXS cards using two card slots for relay recording and long takes. It supports X-OCN and internal ProRes recording up to 4K ProRes 4444 and 422, which keeps your rig cleaner while still capturing formats that post teams trust. Cache recording and expanded cache memory add extra safety for live moments and action.
Designed for Professional Lens Workflows
The included PL mount supports full-frame and Super 35 PL lenses, including spherical and anamorphic options, and records Cooke /i lens metadata frame-by-frame. When the PL mount is removed, the camera’s internal lever-lock E-mount opens up compatibility with E-mount lenses, helping crews move faster on set and reduce downtime during lens changes.
On-Set Control for Remote and Virtual Production
A servo-controlled 8-step mechanical ND system gives you consistent exposure control from Clear to 2.4 (8 stops), which is ideal for changing light without altering shutter or aperture. Firmware updates add support for virtual production functions and enhance live production features, including monitoring tools like Zoom to Fit and LUT handling for SDI outputs. The camera also supports broadcast-style control via RM/RCP panels for certain live workflows.
